Performance Accountability





The Department of Assessment:

  • creates, publishes, delivers and scans aligned assessments
  • provides professional development in:
    • understanding state and federal accountability and assessment rules
    • writing assessments aligned with Sunshine State Standards
    • using assessment results to improve instruction and organizational practices, including how to involve students in the assessment process



The Educational Data Warehouse:

delivers summative and detail reports and graphs to assist educators in making informed decisions concerning curriculum, staff and student progress. Reports cover areas of:
  • Academic Profile
  • Attendance
  • Demographics
  • Discipline
  • District Initiatives
  • Extracurricular programs
  • Grades
  • Graduation status
  • Schedules
  • Special program participation (ESE, ESOL, etc.)
  • Student Progression
  • Testing



The Department of Research and Evaluation:

  • Establishes and clarifies instructional targets for the District, schools, teachers, and students in order to maximize return on investment;
  • Ensures assessments are accurate and can be used to predict FCAT performance;
  • Conducts program evaluations to determine the District’s return on its investment regarding the increase of student achievement;
  • Assists District and school-based personnel interpret data and reports;
  • Reviews requests by individuals and educational agencies to conduct research within the District.


 


The Division of Performance Accountability

serves school district personnel, families, and representatives from business and the community by facilitating the continuation of a research-based data driven school district.

The Division establishes performance standards; develops and deploys a comprehensive assessment system; oversees administration of state and district assessments and surveys; implements an educational data warehouse; provides systematic training on accessing, interpreting and applying data; and identifies successful programs and practices to improve the achievement of all students.

Good evening School Board Chair, School Board members, Dr. Johnson and staff. My name is Marc Baron.

I believe teachers, parents, and educators care deeply about students and we are here today because we want all students to graduate and achieve success in their future careers.

Although the District has made progress over the past years in improving student achievement, the District currently has too many students below grade level and too few have reached the higher levels of achievement. This is particularly true for too many students in several of our federal accountability groups.

What can we do to raise all of our students to grade level and above and have more of our students reach the highest level of achievement?
