Remote Access / VPN

Service Description VPN (Virtual Private Network) access allows users to access the District network from a computer that is not on the network, e.g. home computer.
What is included?
  • Access to network
  • Access to desktop computer
What are the benefits?
  • VPN allows District employees to work from home or other locations such as conferences, hotels, etc.
What should you expect?
  • Availability is 24/7, 365 days per year
  • It takes approximately 2 weeks to process a request
  • Support is available during normal business hours
What are your responsibilities?
  • Must be pre-approved from principal or director
  • Must be justified as "reasonably necessary" for business
  • The user must install the VPN client software by following the directions provided
  • Use with caution as it may allow others to accidentally see confidential information, e.g. grades, etc. You will be responsible for any activity from your VPN account.
  • Employees and students are to use District technology resources, including VPN connectivity technologies, to enhance education and for job productivity. Refer to District Policy 3.29 - Use of Technology for additional acceptable use information. http://www.schoolboardpolicies.com/p/3.2
