Elementary schools across the School District of Palm Beach County host Kindergarten Round Ups to welcome families to visit the campuses, get acquainted with their school and teachers, and get students and parents excited about all of the wonderful things that they have to look forward to as they approach this milestone. During round ups, school administrators will offer an orientation about the school, explain regulations such as dress codes, and provide information about activities on campus. Students and parents will be given tours of the classrooms and be able to ask questions about the transition to elementary school.
Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) in Palm Beach County schools begins in April and is scheduled to run through May 20th. According to the FSA website, “The Florida Standards were designed to set higher expectations for students to encourage deeper learning on fewer topics and requiring greater critical thinking, reasoning and problem solving.” Here are some resources to help parents better understand the assessments and help prepare their students.
The 2015 Palm Beach Regional Science and Engineering Fair awards were given out on Thursday, January 08, 2016. The awards ceremony was graciously hosted by Santaluces High School. Over 750 attendees including parents, coordinators, and other invited guests filled the auditorium to watch over 250 students in Palm Beach County schools receive awards from 4th to 1st as well as special awards from various sponsors and community partners.
The selection of the top 40 out of over 600 students across all categories in middle and high school was very difficult! These 40 students have been invited to attend Florida’s 61st Annual State Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF). Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast, in conjunction with the Stiles-Nicholson Foundation, is graciously awarding each SSEF invitee with a cash award of at least $200.00, up to $550.00.
