Summer is just around the corner and the School District of Palm Beach County will be offering free Summer Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) from June 11 through August 9, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Pre-enrollment for Summer VPK will be held Thursdays, 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., May 10, 17, and 24, at the School District offices located at 3310 Forest Hill Boulevard, West Palm Beach.

Summer VPK registration (Family Central will also be issuing VPK certificates) will take place at the following Kindergarten Round-Ups:

May 11, Friday: North Grade, 8:30 to 11:30 AM
May 14, Monday: North Palm Beach, 2:30 to 5:30 PM
May 15, Tuesday: West Riviera, 2:30 to 5:30 PM
May 18, Friday: Melaleuca, 8:30 to 11:30 AM
May 22, Tuesday: Loxahatchee Groves, 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM
May 29, Tuesday: Delray Full Service, 4:00 to 7:00 PM

Additional registration will be held Thursday evenings, 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., May 10, at four community school sites: Boynton Beach High, Palm Beach Gardens High, Glades Central High, Wellington High

The School District will be serving eligible children in fourteen schools that are geographically dispersed around the county. To be eligible to attend, a child must have turned four on or before September 1, 2006 and must have a valid VPK Certificate of Eligibility that was not used during the school year.

To obtain a VPK Certificate of Eligibility, which serves as a “ticket” for entry into a class, parents may go to Family Central, Inc. located at 3111 South Dixie Highway, Suite 142 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday or may register during community outreach events. To obtain information about these registration opportunities, parents should call the Family Central VPK hotline at (561) 653-2458 or visit Family Central’s website at www.familycentral.org. To qualify for a certificate, parents must bring proof of Florida residency and a birth certificate or other proof of a child’s age.
