2007 Business Partner Award Winners
The
2007 inductee into the Business Partner Hall of Fame is Wachovia. Hundreds
of dedicated Wachovia employees participate in Reading First at schools
throughout Palm Beach County. In the course of this program, a Wachovia
volunteer commits to read aloud to a pre-kindergarten through first grade
classroom for 20 sessions during the school year. After the reading session,
the Wachovia employee donates the book read to the classroom library. Wachovia
also supports education through the “I Make A Difference” Teacher
of Excellence program in conjunction with the Palm Beach Post. In addition,
the Wachovia Foundation invested approximately $200,000 in Palm Beach County
to support education. Wachovia grants help eliminate the achievement gap
in grades Pre-K through 12th, advance teaching and facilitate merit-based
access to higher education for under-served groups. All grants target individuals
or communities with low to moderate income.
