The Afterschool Literacy Enrichment Initiative Program is now in place at 45 Palm Beach County School District afterschool sites and in 6 Community Based Organizations thanks to the ongoing support from the School
District of Palm Beach County, the Children's Services Council, and Prime Time of Palm Beach County. The program uses a research-based academic curriculum. The Literacy Enrichment Initiative supports learning by exposing children to non-fiction literature and allowing them to experience the curriculum in a hands-on, afterschool friendly approach.

The Afterschool Math Initiative launched its pilot program in 23 afterschool sites during the 2009 - 2010 school
year. Serving grades 2 through 5, this initiative supports concepts taught during the school day, including
Number Sense, Place Value, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Geometry, Measurement, Problem Solving, Graphing, and Algebra. Using the Learning Place for Afterschool Math
Classroom kit, instructors teach students these concepts through read-aloud books, activity cards,
manipulatives, math VersaTiles, and math-based games.

The Afterschool Science Initiative uses hands on activities based on AIMS (Activities Integrating Math and
Science) to teach students in grades K through 5 concepts such as the Scientific Method, Physical, Chemical, Earth, and Space Sciences. The program, which is aligned to Sunshine
State Standards, is currently being used in 27 Afterschool Program sites.

Discover Art, a program which was written by a former afterschool program director, art teacher, and art
therapist, is designed to fit the unique setting of afterschool. Using the "Come Look With Me," book series, instructors present the lessons using a variety of experiences to engage students. All
of these activities can be modified depending on the age level of the student. The Discover Art initiative is
currently in place at 22 afterschool sites.
