School District employees should renew their certificate through the District certification department.
Retirees or individuals not currently employed by the School District of Palm Beach County must apply directly to the Florida Department of Education to renew a certificate. Applications are available online at https://certify.fldoe.org.
Types of Renewal Credit:
-
Attending district inservice workshops
-
Completing six (6) credit hours of course work at an accredited college or university. Coursework must reflect a grade of “C” or better. (A grade of “pass” or “satisfactory” is acceptable.)
- Must submit official transcript if using college course(s) for renewal.
-
Passing a Florida Subject Area Exam specific to the coverage on the certificate to be renewed is equivalent to 60 in-service points.
-
Teaching a college level course at an acceptable institution may be accepted the same as credit earned for that course.
-
A combination of the above can be used.
-
A valid certificate issued by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards specific to one of the coverages to be renewed will renew the entire certificate.
Submit the application form, method of renewal (inservice points printout/transcripts/test score/etc.), and fee ($75.00 per certificate for five or fewer subject areas). You may submit the application anytime during the last year of the certificate’s validity period.
**You can now view & print your in-service points from your computer!
Click here to learn how to use this new PeopleSoft feature
Click the yellow "Printable Version" button on your inservice screen and send that printout in with your renewal application and payment or payment verification.
If there is any issue with your Self-Service in-service screen, your School Secretary can still print your full points record for you.
Completed renewal applications can be submitted in person to the Certification Office or via Pony.
- NOTE 1 (Multiple Subject Areas) - The same renewal credit and fee listed above renews all subjects on your Professional Certificate (5 or fewer, not including Endorsements). If you have more than five subjects, not including Endorsements, additional renewal credit and fee may be required. In this case, please check with the certification analyst for your school prior to renewing.
- NOTE 2 - (Name change / Deleting subject) At time of renewal, a name change and/or the deletion of a subject area(s) is free of charge. If you wish to delete one or more subjects at time of renewal, this request must be made explicitly in writing ON the renewal application.
