Procedures for Conducting Research
In order to conduct research in the School District of Palm Beach County (District), it is necessary to complete the document “Application for Conducting Research.” Detailed instructions about the District’s research review process are described on pages 1 through 4 of the Application for Conducting Research.
Click here to review and download a copy of the Application for Conducting Research.
Employees of the District may not have to complete the Application for Conducting Research if the Criteria for Eligibility to Conduct Research at the Employee’s School are met. If you are an employee, please click here for further information.
Once received, we will place the Application for Conducting Research on the next available agenda for the Superintendent’s Research Review Committee. Applications received by the second Wednesday of the month will be placed on the same month’s agenda for review on or after the fourth Wednesday. The Committee does not meet in December.
Research at the public schools is not allowed during the administration of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT), including pretest and posttest activities that occur from mid January through mid March. Click here for a copy of the FY2010 FCAT Blackout Schedule.
Research is also not allowed at the schools that are participating in the Accelerated Academic Achievement Plan. Click here for a list of the prohibited schools.
Applicants must wait until they receive written notice from the Department of Research and Evaluation that their Application for Conducting Research is approved before they contact the schools.
