School-Based Activities
Many schools are engaged in "greening" their campuses, their operations, and even their staff and students! Here are just a few of the things we've heard about recently...
Morikami Park Elementary - see their school PTA's Green Pages
John I. Leonard High School - a member of the school's Environmental Club designed this logo to promote "green" activities at her school!
Santaluces High School - Members of Santaluces High School's Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) are spreading the word about going green. Recently, members traveled to Indian Pines Elementary School and spoke with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in the after-school program about the benefits of recycling. Students played "Recycling Bingo" and worked on acvitity pages that tested their knowledge about what goes in the blue and yellow bins. Prizes, like reusable water bottles, were awarded. Also, parent packets were distributed to each student so that learning could be extended to the home.
The group also traveled to Royal Palm School to talk to pre-school students about recycling and respecting Mother Earth. In addition to sorting activities, the children worked on coloring pages and a parent packet was also given to this group. The goal was to spread knowledge about the benefits of recycling to younger generations.

Pine Jog Elementary - In February, each Kindergarten student was given a slash pine tree sapling to plant on the school campus.
