What is Phase I?
The new version of the IBM Cognos software has added updated features and functionality which allows for faster rendering of reports in New EDW and EDW Teachers. In Phase I, upgraded New EDW and EDW for Teachers reports allow users to experience improvements with minor changes in functionality and appearance of the reports.
In Phase II, the EDW team will take full advantage of all features and functionality available in the new versions of Cognos. Users will notice timesaving changes.
What differences are included in Phase I?
A few cosmetic differences will be apparent in Phase I. The report name will now appear in a green bar at the top of all Phase I reports. There are obvious changes rendering a CSV version of the report or when running reports for printing.
- CSV - Instead of appearing as an icon on a tool bar in New EDW, the CSV option will now appear within the menu for reports only if data will be rendered. This is the same functionality as is currently utilized in EDW for Teachers.
- PDF Printer Friendly - Users will now have a bright blue button in the upper left hand corner of Teacher reports and selected reports that offer filtering and sorting within them (HTML reports) to allow the report to be run in a PDF version that will format appropriately for printing.
There will be greater support for a wider variety of browsers and operating systems.
Why do I log in twice?
New EDW and EDW for Teachers users will need to login using the current protocol with one exception during the Phase I process. New EDW users will be required to login a second time when accessing the first IBM Cognos report in any one session.
How do I recognize a Phase I report?
The green bar with the EDW logo at the top of the report in the upper left corner identifies a Phase I report.
How do I answer the Security Alert dialog box?
When attempting to access a Phase I report, a Security Alert dialog box may appear (as seen below). These boxes may be seen as the user transitions from the Report Access page to New EDW or EDW for Teachers or while accessing a Phase I report. To eliminate these dialog boxes, place a checkmark in the box requesting not to show this warning in the future (see arrow indications below).
Contact your local school site technician (ITSA/STST) to check the computer's browser settings. More information will be supplied as it becomes available.
