Self Reporting of Arrests

School Board Policy 3.13 requires all employees to self report any arrests and/or criminal charges in writing to their immediate supervisor within forty-eight (48) hours. Supervisors are to then contact Employee Relations with a copy of that information. That information should be faxed to Detective Dilbert at 434-8178 (PX 48178). For help on what information should be included in the written notification - download one of the handy templates listed on the right.

The Policy also requires the employee to notify their supervisor the outcome of the arrest/criminal charge including any conviction, finding of guilt, withholding of adjudication, commitment to a pretrial diversion program, or entering a plea of guilty, guilty in your best interest, or Nolo Contendre for any criminal offense other than a minor traffic violation within forty-eight (48) hours after the final judgement has been entered.

What Happens If...
The charges were reported but it was more than forty-eight (48) hours? Failure to follow School Board Policy is a disciplinary issue that could result in disciplinary action being taken against the employee. The information should still be forwarded to Employee Relations as soon as it is received.
The charges are serious and represent a clear danger to students and other staff members? Contact Detective Dilbert as soon as you have the information and make him aware of the charges so that the situation can be evaluated to see if relocation is warranted.
I have information about an employee's arrest but the employee has not reported it yet? Contact Employee Relations with the information that you have. The arrest information will be investigated.
