Learning Tools for Parents
The School District of Palm Beach County offers numerous online references, resources, and software services that parents can use with their children at home. The services listed below are offered free of charge to the parents of children enrolled in Palm Beach County public schools. Information about usernames and passwords may be obtained from your child's teacher or from the school Media Specialist.

Edline Connects Parents to Palm Beach County Schools
Edline
Edline is the primary means for Palm Beach County schools to communitcate online with parents and students. With an Edline account parents have secure access to information about all of their child's classes including links to online textbooks and other resources not available to the general public. All parents of Palm Beach County school children are entitled to an Edline account. Please contact the Edline Coordinator at your child's school to learn more about activating an account and taking advantage of all the features that Edline provides.

Reference and Research
These online references are perfect for use by students of all ages and are provided free of charge to students enrolled in Palm Beach County public schools. These resources may be used at home using the standard Palm Beach County login and password. (Please see your school Media Specialist if you do not have login information for home access.)

eLibrary Curriculum Edition delivers one of the largest collections of periodical and digital media content designed specifically for K-12 schools and libraries. eLibrary CE connects educators and students to the best online resources to supplement instruction and research. Students can find the answers they need from more than 2,000 full-text magazines, newspapers, reference books, and transcripts-plus thousands of pictures, maps, and educator-approved websites.
SIRS Discoverer is an award-winning database designed with the young researcher in mind. This interactive tool strengthens research, reading, writing and computer skills. Articles and graphics from more than 1,400 U.S. and international magazines, newspapers and U.S. government documents are carefully selected for their educational content, interest and level of readability. Because it includes middle and elementary curriculum topics, Discoverer can be easily integrated into classroom activities.
The new SIRS Issues Researcher helps students make sense of the world by offering relevant, credible resources aligned to learning standards that tell the whole story on the major issues of the day. Thousands of highly targeted documents, primary source documents, websites, and multimedia (including 13,000+ research-quality images) represent viewpoints from the pros and cons, to everything in-between.
Online Learning and Multimedia Resources
The School District of Palm Beach County provides a number of dynamic and engaging libraries of online animated and video multimedia for our students, parents, and teachers. All of the resources below are accessible in public schools, libraries, and community centers and may be used at home with some restrictions.
BrainPOP Family of Resources
BrainPOP creates animated, curriculum-based content that supports educators and engages students. Their online educational resources include BrainPOP Jr. (K-3), BrainPOP, BrainPOP Español, and the newly launched BrainPOP ESL. All are supported by BrainPOP Educators, which features free lesson plans, video tutorials, professional development tools, graphic organizers, and best practices for teacher use. Ideal for both group and one-on-one settings, BrainPOP is used in numerous ways, from introducing a new lesson or topic to illustrating complex subject matter to reviewing before a test. Content is aligned to state standards and easily searchable with our online State Standards Tool.

TumbleBooks
TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. (Please note that Tumblebooks uses a slightly different username and password for home access. See your Media Specialist for more details.)
Individual Learning Resources
The resources listed below are primarily designed for individual learning that can be done at a pace that is customized to each student. These resources require an individual username and password for student access. In most cases this will be the student's 8-digit student number preceded by the letters "pb". For example: Username: pb12345678 Password: pb12345678
FCAT Explorer
FCAT Explorer is an internet-based tool designed to help Florida students in grades 3 to 11 pass the FCAT by focusing on mastery of the Sunshine State Standards through several interactive programs. Each student is given a unique username and password to access these programs, and schools in Florida often set aside time during the day to work specifically on FCAT Explorer.
Riverdeep Destination Series
Destination and Edmark House Series courseware are web-based programs that can be accessed from school or home. Currently, courses are available in Math for PreK-12, Reading for PreK-8, and Science, Social Studies, and Music for PreK-2 grade level abilities.

Explore Learning Gizmos
Explore Learning Gizmos may be used as a whole class excessive or the activities may be completed by the student at their own pace. Username and passwords are created at the school level and may be obtained by the administrator in charge of Gizmos at your location.
