Girl at deskMicrosoft Office ClipArt: Microsoft maintains an outstanding collection of both line drawings and photographs at their online ClipArt catalog. You can access the catalog from the link above and search for an image that you'd like to use, or launch the search directly from within any Office program, such as Word or PowerPoint.



Florida Electronic Library: Anyone with a library card from a municipal or county library system can access the extensive image collections and resources from the State through this portal. Enter your library card number and log-in and you'll have access to photographic and museum collections of information, and more!

Florida Photographic Collection: The Florida Photographic Collection is a nationally recognized component of the Florida State Archives Logoand contains more than 850,000 photographs, and approximately 2,500 movies and video tapes.

Lesson Plans and Lesson Ideas

Educator's reference Desk Educator's Reference Desk (formerly AskERIC): The longest-running and largest collection of on-line lesson plans can be found at the Educator's Reference Desk. Formerly known as AskERIC, this resource has a phenomenal collection of lesson plans, lesson starters, and lesson ideas.

GEM logoGateway to Educational Materials (GEM): The Gateway to Educational Materials is a Consortium effort to provide educators with quick and easy access to thousands of educational resources found on various federal, state, university, non-profit, and commercial Internet sites.


Media Outlets: Almost every television and cable network in the U.S. has lesson plans available for teachers, and many newspapers as well. What's the catch? None really. But they assume you'll want get your kids watching their programs or reading their publication in the classroom and that will lead them to read or watch at home. Below are the best of the best:

  • PBS TeacherSource: Using PBS content in the classroom is easy since producers work with teachers to create standards-based curriculum materials, which are then aggregated at PBS TeacherSource. Usually, these curriculum materials weave together video and online resources into an exciting instructional strategy that builds on the visual and collaborative strengths of these media.
  • New York Times Learning Network: The New York Times Learning Network is a free service for students in grades 3-12, their teachers and parents. The site is updated Monday through Friday throughout the year. Teachers can access a daily lesson plan for grades 6-12, written in partnership with The Bank Street College of Education in New York City.
  • Discovery Channel School: DiscoverySchool.com is dedicated to making teaching and learning an exciting, rewarding adventure for students, teachers, and parents. They provide innovative teaching materials for teachers, useful and enjoyable resources for students, and smart advice for parents about how to help their kids enjoy learning and excel in school.
  • TeacherVision (Free 6 month trial. $29.95 per year after trial expires.)
  • A & E Television Network: The A&E Network has several hundred Teacher's Guides available to download. These guides are written by teachers and include National Standards correlations, as well as vocabulary words and discussion questions.

A to Z teacher stuff logoA to Z Teacher Stuff: A good collection of freebies of all types, including lesson plans. There is some commercial content and advertising, but the site is easy to navigate and search.



Teacher's World: Great resource for current events and up-to-date lesson plans and ideas.

Free Worksheets, Puzzles, and More

  • First School: Features free fun preschool lesson plans, educational early childhood activities, printable crafts, printable activities, calendar of events and other resources for children of preschool age. 
  • Graphic Organizers: Huge collection of graphic organizers on a variety of topics and themes.
  • Activity Place: Geared to teachers of the early childhood years.
  • ESL Teacher Handouts, Grammar Worksheets & Printable: A selection of free English grammar worksheets and printable handouts, for English language and English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers and instructors to use in the classroom or other teaching environment.
  • Discovery School Puzzle Maker: Puzzlemaker is a puzzle generation tool for teachers, students and parents. Create and print customized word search, crossword and math puzzles using your word lists.
  • Personal Educational Press: This free service supplies tailor-made flashcards, work-sheets, quizzes, wordsearches, signs, word lists, and more. Simply plug in your parameters and choose your function to generate a work page.
