What is ISSOC? - Independent Sales Surtax Oversight Committee Spending your tax dollars wisely... On July 26th, 2004, the School Board adopted a resolution to establish "ISSOC" (Independent Sales Surtax Oversight Committee), which consisted of 9 volunteer citizen members who are residents of Palm Beach County. ISSOC was comprised of one representative each from these current standing committees: Construction Oversight & Review Committee (CORC); Finance; and the Technical Advisory Group (TAG). Additionally, one representative was appointed by the Education Commission; one representative was appointed by the League of Cities; one representative served on behalf of the Black Community; one representative served on behalf of the Hispanic Community; and two representatives were appointed by the Business Forum. Click here for the latest ISSOC member list. The projects financed by the referendum were subject to spending and project review by ISSOC. The committee received a report from the SDPBC Treasurer's Office for each month that the surtax was in effect. Click here to see the latest reports from the Treasurer's office. The committee meetings were public so anyone could attend to make comments and ask questions. The public also had access to the status of construction projects on the School District's website.
