Who: Children who turned 4-years-old by September 1, 2011, (born 9/2/2006 to 9/1/2007) are eligible to attend either a 2011-2012 school-year VPK program or the 2012 Summer VPK program, but not both. Registration for the 2011-2012 school-year VPK program will remain open as vacancies become available. What: School-year VPK classes are funded by the State of Florida and are offered 3 hours daily from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Enrolled VPK students are eligible to also attend an enrichment part of the day offered from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. VPK and enrichment hours create a seamless 6-hour day taught by a teaching team comprised of a certified teacher and an Early Childhood Professional (ECP). Quality VPK classes prepare children for success in school and later life. Aftercare is available in some schools. The VPK/Parent Fee Enrichment Program is offered in a limited number of schools. (See the column on the right for a list of the schools.) The parent funded enrichment portion of the day is offered at a cost to parents, and there is a limited number of seats. Cost: VPK hours are free to parents. Enrolled VPK students are eligible to attend enrichment hours at a cost of $115 per week. Subsidized care vouchers (Family Central) are accepted. Registration is taken on a first come/first served basis. Certain schools will enroll a limited number of 3-year-old students at a cost of $140 per week.
