School-year VPK/Parent Fee Funded Enrichment Program |

Who: Children who turned 4-years-old by September 1, 2009, (born 9/2/2004 to 9/1/2005) are eligible to attend either a 2009-2010 school-year VPK program or the 2010 summer VPK program, but not both. Registration for the 2009-2010 school-year VPK program remains open as vacancies become available. Children who will turn 4-years-old by September 1, 2010, (born 9/2/2005 to 9/1/2006) are eligible to attend school-year VPK starting August 2010. Registrations for the 2010-2011 school-year program will begin in February 2010. What: School-year VPK classes are funded by the State of Florida and are offered 3 hours daily from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Enrolled VPK students are eligible to also attend an enrichment part of the day offered from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. VPK and enrichment hours create a seamless 6-hour day taught by a teaching team comprised of a certified teacher and an Early Childhood Professional (ECP). Quality VPK classes prepare children for success in school and later life. Aftercare is available in many schools. The VPK/Parent Fee Funded Enrichment Program is offered in a limited number of schools. (See the column on the right for a list of the schools that currently offer the VPK/Parent Fee Funded Enrichment Program.) The parent funded enrichment portion of the day is offered at a cost to parents and there are a limited number of VPK/Parent Fee Funded Enrichment Program seats. Enrollment is on a first come/first served basis. When: School-year 2010-2011 will begin August 17, 2010. Registrations will begin on April 8, 2010 at school sites and the District. Cost: VPK hours are free to parents; enrolled VPK students eligible to attend enrichment hours at a cost of $85 per week; subsidized care vouchers can be used for parent fee and/or aftercare expenses; registration is taken on a first come/first served basis. Certain schools will enroll a limited number of 3-year-old students at a cost of $120 per week.
