Safe Schools Facilitators
The Safe Schools Facilitator (SSF) will serve as a school-based advocate for the initiatives, programs and activities of the Department of Safe Schools. All of these full under Single School Culture©. These initiatives are designed to improve students’ academic achievement by reducing barriers that interfere with their success. The Facilitator will help the school by providing an information link to the Department of Safe Schools and by serving as an on-site coach/advocate for all the Department of Safe Schools activities.
As an information link, the Facilitator will become known as the on-site contact person for initiatives such as Conflict Resolution, Too Good for Drugs, Character Education, Bullying Prevention, CHAMPs, FACE IT, Red Ribbon Week, Brown Ribbon Month and student led activities and clubs coordinated by the Department. The Department of Safe Schools will communicate regularly with the Facilitator in order to assess the status of the Department’s initiatives and goals and will offer recommendations and support as needed to ensure success.
The Facilitator will be asked to promote the Department of Safe Schools initiatives by dispersing materials, keeping staff apprised of these initiatives via regular up-dates at staff meetings, announcements over the in-school communication systems, newsletters, and other appropriate channels. The Facilitator will be provided with the necessary data and information to help guide the development of school improvement goals and school-wide initiatives.
