August Nurseline- Prepare to Prevent
We don’t have to tell our bodies to fight infection. That’s what the immune system is for. This part of the body deals with invaders like viruses and bacteria before they become serious problems. But even the immune system could use some help now and then. Vaccines can help you arm your immune system for future attacks. So why not give your body a leg up in the battle against infection?
Many people simply don’t understand how vaccines work. Some worry they’ll do more harm than good. When a person is vaccinated, he or she receives a shot with a dead or weakened virus or bacteria microbes. When the microbes enter the body, they alert the immune system. The immune system then builds antibodies that “remember” the virus or bacteria. If the real disease ever enters the body, the “memories” make it much easier to fight it off.
Recently, some preventable diseases are making a comeback. These diseases wouldn’t spread as quickly or be as serious if people had their shots to fight against them. That’s why it’s important to make sure that you and your family are protected with the right vaccinations.
Healthy Living-Lessons for Life Nurseline can help you learn which vaccines may be right for you. Nurses are available around the clock, and can talk with you one-to-one about immunizations and any other health concerns. Your call is completely confidential. To speak with a nurse now, call 1-888-229-9322. Nurses are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
