On site Employee Mammography Your best defense against breast cancer is finding it early. A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breast. It can find breast cancer that is too small for you, your doctor, or nurse to feel. Studies show that if you are in your forties or older, having a mammogram every 1 to 2 years could save your life. The Mammography Van provides the same health benefits as the Boca Raton Community Women’s Center:
Screening Mammograms are recommended beginning at the age of 40. Women 40 years or over do not need a prescription for a screening mammogram! The MammoVan is for screening mammograms only; not diagnostic. Screening mammograms can only be given once a year. Screening baseline is between the ages of 35-39. The patient MUST have a prescription in order to have a baseline screening mammogram. The mammogram is billed through your employee insurance as it would be if you obtained the service in a doctor’s office. Insurance will pay 100% for one screening mammogram per year. Clinical breast exams are recommended annually beginning at age 20. A Certified Breast Health Specialist is trained to provide clinical breast exams and will be available as needed on the van. No prescription is needed and the exam is billable through insurance on most cases. You’ll need at least 10 participants. The employees will need to call to make their appointments on the van. Walk-ons will be accepted however appointments are preferred. Once you have interest and have decided on a date you’ll be provide more information on promotions, registration and frequently asked questions. Women at age 40. American Cancer Society guidelines recommend annual screening mammograms for women starting at age 40 and an annual clinical breast exam. No prescription is needed. Women 35-39.
