2010 License for Learning - K - 12 Palm Beach County Teachers are invited to apply for the 2010 License for Learning grant.  The Palm Beach County Education Foundation is hosting this grant opportunity for K -12 teachers to support classroom projects geared toward literacy, career education, science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).  These funds are received through the sale of "Support Education" license plates in Palm Beach County.  Teachers should access the directions to prepare and submit an application at the following link: http://www.palmbeachschools.org/edfoundation/GrantOpportunities.asp.

Increase Your Green - The Do Something organization offers grants to middle and high schools to take action to reduce their carbon footprint with its “Increase Your Green” grant competition. All equipment is either youth league or high school league certified. Grants are awarded to projects that increase opportunities for youth to learn shills needed for success on and off the field. League for the Educational Awareness of the Holocaust, Inc. (LEAH)- LEAH grants provide funding for books, audio visual, and training resources and programs in Florida schools that teach lessons learned from the Holocaust to eliminate prejudice and hatred among children. American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Foundation - Funding to energize hands-on learning in science,math, and technology the classroom. Membership to AIAA is free for K - 12 teachers.

Healthy Sprouts Award - As a way to encourage the growth of health-focused youth gardens, the National Gardening Association (NGA) recognizes outstanding programs via the Healthy Sprouts Grant Awards. National Weather Association (NWA) - Grants are available from the National Weather Association (NAWS) for teachers to improve the education of their students in Meteorology. Grants may purchase scientific equipment or supplies; pay for relevant workshops or conferences; or pay for a teacher to take an accredited course in atmospheric sciences.

Tools for Education - Lowe's - Lowe's will fund public schools or parent organizations supporting public schools in facility enhancement (indoor and outdoor) as well as landscaping/clean-up type projects. Best Buy Te@ch Grant - Best Buy funds projects that demonstrate creative uses of interactive technology in K - 12 classrooms. Winning programs will focus on kids using technology to learn a standards-based curriculum. Applications must be completed and submitted online. This year, Best Buy is offering two award levels:

1) Best Buy Gift Cards ranging from $1,000 - $5,000 for K - 12 programs.

2) Best Buy Teach Awards of $10,000 each will be granted up to 15 schools serving ninth-grade students that display the greatest creativity in their projects and the clearest vision of how to increase the use of interactive technology.
