SpringBoard

SpringBoard® is the College Board’s official Pre-Advanced Placement program, developed to provide a roadmap for attaining the knowledge and skills students require for success in Advanced Placement courses and in college-level work.  Based on the College Board Standards for success in English Language Arts/Mathematics (also the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards) and current research on best instructional practices, SpringBoard® uses an instructional design that starts with the end in mind, where students’ current skills and knowledge are gauged through a culmination of assessment activities.  The skills and knowledge needed for these assessments are scaffolded and carefully planned with numerous learning opportunities.  By using these culminating assessments as a starting point for planning instruction, teachers have a clear picture of what students need to know and be able to do as they progress through the units and the course to more easily differentiate the learning plan to meet individual needs.

While SpringBoard is a National program for ALL students, the School District of Palm Beach County offers SpringBoard to more than 10,000 students at twenty-two middle schools and high schools combined.
