Graduation Requirements [Florida Statute §1003.429 (3) (1)]
Students must satisfy the graduation requirements that are in effect at the time the student first enters the ninth grade regardless of the date the student graduates, unless the requirements change for the entire class, or unless requirements are changed for all students by Florida Statute, or unless the student is scheduled to graduate more than two years after the student's original class. Graduation requirements prescribed by Florida Statute may not be waived. Refer to the Student and Family Handbook for Graduation Requirement charts. Exceptions may pertain to transfer students. |
Graduation Coach Initiative
One of the School District Key Results is to decrease the dropout rate and increase graduation rates for students of each racial/ethnic group. To accomplish this task, the Academic Business Plan was developed to provide various strategies/activities to ensure that all students receive the highest quality education. This comprehensive plan addresses literacy, school safety, and the graduation rate. The Graduation Coach Initiative is a strategy established to provide additional resources for at-risk students. Graduation Coaches are placed at various high schools to work in collaboration with other stakeholders in the school to assist in removing barriers that prevent students from experiencing success toward high school graduation. Through ongoing communication with administrators, teachers, school counselors, and parents, the graduation coaches coordinate services and activities to benefit the student. |
