Progress Monitoring Plan
(PMP)
As required by Florida Statute §1008.25(4) schools must develop and implement a School District of Palm Beach County Progress Monitoring Plan (PMP) for each student who does not meet specific levels of proficiency as determined by the district school board in reading, writing, mathematics and/or science for each grade level, or who does not meet specific levels of performance as determined by the commissioner on statewide assessments at selected grade levels. Additional diagnostic assessments must be provided to determine the nature of the student’s difficulty and areas of academic need. Plans can either be written for individual students or monitoring can occur through a schoolwide plan.
Florida Statute §1008.25 (4) (b) also states that schools shall provide for the frequent monitoring of the student’s progress in meeting the desired levels of performance and that each student and his or her parents be informed of that student’s academic progress.
A PMP is an annual contract and needs to be "closed" prior to the last day of school. This final monitoring indicates that, having applied the predetermined instructional intervention strategies, the student was or was not successful in achieving the documented desired level of performance.
