THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF PALM BEACH COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT is committed to making a difference in the lives of the community's children through early positive interaction. With programs such as the Multi-Agency Gang Task Force, Youth Court Program, Violence Intervention Techniques and Language (V.I.T.A.L.), Bus Camera Program, Safe Schools and Student Crime Stoppers we are building a safer future.

The School District of Palm Beach County Police Department was created by a Special Legislative Act which authorized the appointment of sworn Police Officers to carry out all Law Enforcement activities throughout the District's schools and facilities. It was established in 1972 when the School Board made the decision to take a proactive approach to providing safe schools for the students and staff of Palm Beach County. As an integral part of the District's effort to provide a secure environment for learning, our employees are dedicated to the idea that we can make a difference in the lives of Palm Beach County's children. By placing a greater emphasis on successful crime prevention and diversion programs, we make our schools stronger and our community a better place to live.

Over one hundred fifty uniformed Police Officers are assigned to the schools throughout Palm Beach County. These Officers are responsible for campus patrol, initial case investigations, subsequent follow-up and, when necessary, making arrests. In addition the Officers also provide classroom presentations, counsel students and parents, engage students through mentoring, and serve as positive role models to help promote healthy relationships between youth and law enforcement.
