COMPONENT PROCEDURES
1. CHOOSE A COMPONENT
Choose a component that best aligns with the content of your program. Consult the current Board-approved Master Inservice Plan (MIP) on the Department of Professional Development's website at http://www.palmbeachschools.org/staffdev/MasterIn-ServicePlan.asp. Target existing component titles that align with the content of your professional learning program. Sort the components by title or number. Double click on the component title to review the component information. Identify the objectives, procedures, and implementation methods that best reflect the focus of the professional learning program. Click here to view the directions for Choosing a Component.
2. COMPLETE THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL
Complete a Professional Development Proposal (PBSD 1853). Submit three weeks prior to the onset of the program for approval. The Department of Professional Development will provide email notification to the Session Coordinator. This email indicates approval for the specific session dates and program duration. If changes occur, please contact your designated Specialist to update the original Professional Development Proposal and the training schedule. Click here to view Directions for Completing Form 1853.
3. MONITOR/IMPLEMENTATION
Within the program duration, the professional learning facilitator and/or session coordinator must monitor implementation, provide support and assistance as needed, and review documentation of the transfer of learning. It is the responsibility of the professional learning facilitator and/or session coordinator to review the evidence that documents the transfer of learning. This may occur by reviewing participant products, results of action research, study group summaries, electronic reports, or other data. Participants can follow-up by utilizing several web-based resources, assistance, and discussion groups related to the training. Feedback to participants should be provided as well as an opportunity for correction if needed. The professional learning facilitator or session coordinator must keep accurate records of the implementation for each participant. Click here to view samples and suggestions for Monitoring the Component.
4. ASSIGN INSERVICE POINTS AND DETERMINE IMPACT
Upon completion of the professional learning program, the Component Evaluation must be completed by the professional learning facilitator and coordinator. Submit the original Sign-In Sheets, noting the total number of points earned by each participant. Staple them to the completed Component Evaluation (PBSD 0471) and PONY to the Department of Professional Development at The Pew Leadership Development Center. It is the responsibility of the session coordinator to maintain evidence of the participants' implementation for a period of five years. Participant products should be returned to the individuals.
