Palm Beach County Teacher Observation and Evaluation System
Marzano Teacher Evaluation Framework
The Student Success Act (Senate Bill 736) mandates a new teacher observation and evaluation system be implemented in FY12. The Robert Marzano Observation and Evaluation System was selected by a committee comprised of teachers, CTA representatives, principals, assistant principals and district staff. Marzano’s system is based on the premise that ALL instructional personnel are capable of improving their practice regardless of their level of performance. This system of teacher evaluation was approved by the school board June 1, 2011.

Critical information regarding the Teacher Evaluation Process:
Online Modules Available The core of effective practices on which the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs) are based includes the use of instructional strategies revealed by contemporary research to increase student learning when done correctly and in appropriate circumstances. To provide school leaders to up-to-date professional learning on the core research on instructional practice, 14 online modules on the art and science of teaching have been included in the W.C. Golden Leadership Development program and placed on the Florida School Leaders website. (www.floridaschoolleaders.org). These 14 modules provide professional learning on current research on instructional strategies that have a high probability of impacting student learning. The modules support a core knowledge base for Florida’s instructional leaders. The content is applicable to all evaluation systems statewide. |
