    About this Course
    Class dates: This 6-week course teaches popular jewelry-making techniques in a casual, workshop setting that is appropriate for all levels of experience. Students will make 4 to 5 jewelry projects, including but not limited to: beaded wrap bracelet, gemstone necklace, embossed metal jewelry and a project of the class? choosing. Standard Community School tuition applies. A $35 materials fee is due to the instructor the first class. This fee covers some materials and supplies needed to make the jewelry projects. In addition, students should anticipate the cost of their own basic jewelry-making tools which can be purchased a local craft store or on-line inexpensively. If student provides own materials, this fee is waived.

    We do a variety of paintings. You can bring your own ideas or do what I bring. Bring what supplies you have and we will work with them. I use 8x10 canvas mostly-because they are easier to carry to class and to store. You will need a container for water, paper towels, sea sponge and a kitchen sponge.If you don't have paints and brushes. I suggest folk art paint (because it covers well and easy to work with)Plaid has a package of 10 brushes that covers most of the brushes you will need. (Walmart $5.)You can come to the first class with out brushes (I will show you brushes I use the most) and then get them after that class.

    Each week we will be assigned a theme for everyone to photograph. The themes will be chosen by
    the students.

    Understand the power of your camera and how to use it to unleash the photographer within you. Learn what makes a great photograph and acquire the tools to analyze your own pictures and others as well.
    This class is hands on, and we will be doing photographic exercises and the students will be asked to print those exercises for the purpose of analyzing them and discussing the possible difficulties, if any.
     
    It is important to bring your digital camera and a set of 1 to 3 prints of pictures you took and of which you are proud. Prints can be any size - 4x4, 4x6, 5x7, 8x10 etc.

    Catherine brings her joy of clay to the classroom. Not sure what hand-building pottery is? Well, you don't need much experience to enjoy it, the class is a go at your own pace and be creative. She will give you guidance from a lump of clay on the first day to a finished bowl or whatever your imagination can come up with by the last day. You will get the guidance you need to become confident in hand-building pottery that is only limited to your imagination. Note: If you have some or lots of experience, this class is a great place to work semi-independently in a clay community environment studio.
