Robotics and Aviation (STEM)

  • The Robotics and Aviation (STEM) Academy’s goal is to inspire young people to be robotics and technology leaders. Our three-year mentor-based program teaches students how to code, design and build various robots. The program is designed to foster problem solving, decision making, computer literacy and communication. The design model of creating and evaluating outcomes leads to solutions and reponses to new challenges for students.

    6th Grade: Introduction to Technology
An introduction to the areas of technology and to introduce students to the design and problem solving processes using manipulative skills while working cooperatively with others in team activities. Students will design and build the LEGO EV3 Robot.

    7th Grade: Exploring Technology
A continuation of the introductory course with additional complex problem solving and challenges. Students will be given the opportunity to solve technological problems while gaining an understanding of the effects of technology on our everyday lives. Students will design and build the next level, LEGO Spike robot.

8th Grade: Exploration of Robotics Technology and Career Planning
Students will design and build the VEX EDR model robot and participate in advanced challenges. During this process they will learn key STEM principles, concepts and career paths.
