  • School Attendance Is The Key To Your Child's Success!

    We are excited that the new school year at Timber Trace is underway! As we settle into our new routines, I want to stress the importance of your child being in school on-time, every day. When they are present, they are able to fully engage in lessons, participate in class activities, and build essential connections with their classmates and teachers. Missing just two days a month is considered chronically absent for students. And research shows chronically absent students have trouble learning to read by third grade, keeping up in middle school, and graduating from high school.

    As we enter our school year, here are some helpful tips:

    Make mornings easy with a family routine. Prepare clothes and backpacks the night before school;

    Try not to make medical appointments during the school day. Schedule appointments before or after school to make sure students aren’t missing valuable instructional times; and

    Minimize vacations and personal holidays when school is in session. See the school calendar below for easy reference to know when students are not in school.

    We’re here to help! We understand that sometimes there are challenges, and we want to work with families. If you need assistance or have concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s work together to make sure your child is in school and ready to learn.

    Safety Update

    The safety of our students and staff is our top priority across the School District of Palm Beach County. Our parents, guardians, and family are an important and active part of promoting a positive, safe learning environment in our schools. Recently, there has been an increase in unfounded social media threats to schools in our district. Each of these reports are taken seriously by School Police and thoroughly investigated.

    Families, we need your help. We encourage you to talk with all your children about their digital activities, the importance of being responsible online, and never joking around about school safety. Additionally, social media is not appropriate for our elementary age students.

    Students who make threats to a school community, even those made as a joke or that are unfounded, can be immediately arrested and expelled from school. Making a threat against a school is a second degree felony in Florida, even if it is intended as a joke. In addition to criminal charges, posting threatening language on social media violates the Student Code of Conduct and could lead to expulsion.

    Students who make threats to the school community may suffer long-lasting damage to their future. What may seem like a small mistake at the moment may have life-altering consequences.

    Don’t repost or share social media posts about threats to school safety. Sharing and reposting unverified information leads to rumors and misinformation. Instead, immediately report any safety concern using FortifyFL. This is monitored 24/7 by School Police for reports of suspicious or concerning activity that may require law enforcement intervention.

    As always, we thank you for your support.
