Choice and In-House Programs

  • Pahokee Middle-Senior High has a variety of Choice and in-house programs, including Civil Air Patrol (CAP), Information Technology, International Baccalaureate, Medical Sciences - Pre-Medicine, and Robotics. Learn more about our programs, below.

    Civil Air Patrol

    The Civil Air Patrol Program (CAP) is designed to build a student's character by instilling skills as a leader. Cadets will be exposed to concepts in the Aerospace industry and career exploration tied to a STEM curriculum. The program consists of three missions: Aerospace Education, Cadet Program, and Emergency Services. Upon completion of the CAP program, Cadets are eligible to earn up to two pay grades higher than others should they choose to further their career in the Armed Forces.

    Pre-Information Technology (6th - 8th)

    The Pre–Information Technology program offers an innovative, integrated learning environment focused on computers, technology, and communications. Emphasis is placed on a college preparatory curriculum directly linked to career pathways in the IT career cluster.

    Information Technology (9th - 12th)

    The program offers the following certifications:
    Digital Information Technology
    -Certification as a Web Designer (S.D.A. Site Development Associate.)
    Digital Design 1, 2, 3
    -Adobe Certified Associate (Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, Premier Pro, Dream Weaver, Flash) 

    International Baccalaureate MYP/DP - Pahokee Middle-Senior High School's Mission Statement

    Pahokee Middle High International Baccalaureate World School is dedicated to the intellectual advancement and achieving of principled and caring students, who can effectively meet the challenges of a multicultural and global community.

    International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (6th - 10th)
    The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) is for students in grades 6–10 and provides a framework of academic challenge and life skills appropriate to this stage of adolescence. The IBMYP offers a holistic approach that emphasizes critical thinking skills, global citizenship, and intercultural awareness, as well as traditional school subjects. The curriculum consists of eight subject groups explored through six global contexts: identities and relationships, orientations in space and time, personal and cultural identity, globalization and sustainability, fairness and development, and scientific and technical innovation.

    International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (11th - 12th)
    The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is an assessed programme for students in their junior and senior year. It is respected by leading universities across the globe. Through the DP, schools are able to develop students who: have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge, flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically, study at least two languages, excel in traditional academic subjects, explore the nature of knowledge through the programme’s unique theory of knowledge course.     Program Requirements:

    • Follow IB curriculum
    • 100 CAS hours (Creativity, Activity and Service) in 11th and 12th grades
    • Extended Essay (an independent, self-directed research paper)
    • Theory of Knowledge 

    IB Graduates can earn:

    • A specialized IB diploma that is accepted worldwide
    • Florida Bright Future Scholarship (100% tuition)

    Robotics

    Our goal at Pahokee Middle High school is to present and expose many if not all of our students into inclusive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities and projects in an innovative way in order to increase student self-efficacy, motivation, and create positive attitudes towards STEM subjects. Through participation in FIRST LEGO League Robotics and FIRST TECH CHALLENGE, our students are introduced to real-world problems and multiple complex tasks where our students as a team had to research solutions to the problem and design an innovative solution to the existing real-world problem.

    Medical Sciences - Pre-Medicine Academy (9th - 12th)

    This academy provides students with the medical skills and training necessary to succeed in postsecondary healthcare career education and/ or to successfully transition into the healthcare workforce. Students can earn certifications in Allied Health Assisting and Electrocardiograph Technician.
