Free Meals Provided for Children at Various Sites During the Summer

A female school food service worker shows freshly made chicken and rice to the camera.

Beginning on Tuesday, June 3, the School District of Palm Beach County’s School Food Service will be providing free breakfast and lunch meals at 190 sites, including schools, libraries, and community centers, to children who are attending summer school and summer camp, as well as to anyone 18 years old and younger.

Recipients must visit during the meal service times and remain on site to consume their meals. To find a location and its hours, go to the Summer BreakSpot website, call 2-1-1, or 850-617-7170. Dates and times of meal service will vary by site.

Additionally, School Food Service will be providing free grab-and-go meals through a special program at Glades Central Community High School and Pahokee Middle-Senior High School. Meal kits will consist of two breakfasts and two lunches. All items provided will be shelf-stable and will not require cooking or reheating.

Meal distribution at Glades Central High and Pahokee Middle-Senior High will be accessible 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. on the following Fridays: June 6, June 13, June 20, June 27, July 11, July 18, and July 25.

The child should be present to pick up the grab-and-go meals at Glades Central and Pahokee Middle-Senior. If the child is not present, the parent will need to provide one of the following to ensure the meal is for someone 18 years old or younger:

  • A picture of the child with the present adult.
  • The student's school ID.
  • The student's birth certificate.
  • The student's school schedule.
