On Saturday, April 8th, 2017 Citrus Cove Elementary Afterschool competed for the first time in the Engineer It! engineering competition held at the South Florida Science Museum and Planetarium. There were over 600 hundred participants that attended with Citrus Cove Elementary having the second largest turn out of about 100 students. Students, including afterschool students, worked hard for over a month to create egg drops, paper airplanes, water filters, bottle rockets, and roller coasters.
The Citrus Cove afterschool program has dedicated staff who helped the K-5 students achieve amazing things. Mrs. Ross, afterschool site director, would like to acknowledge Ms. Hanna, Mrs.Maddox, Ms. Lawson and Ms. Kerr for guiding the Panthers through the engineering process. The Citrus Cove Afterschool Budding Engineers, are looking forward to, and already preparing for, participating in next year’s competition!
