There are currently 94 elementary sites with afterschool programs operated by Palm Beach County School District staff. While each afterschool site operates under the School Board Policy and current District procedures and protocols, sites vary in regards to specific program offerings. The information listed below is a general overview of all 94 programs. The afterschool site director at each afterschool site can assist with specific questions or concerns regarding their program.

All staff working in afterschool programs are highly qualified. Staff must gain clearance through District security and background checks. They are First Aid/CPR/AED certified and must complete twelve additional hours of professional development annually. In partnership with Palm Beach State College and Prime Time Palm Beach County, staff are offered the opportunity to work towards the School Age Professional Certificate (SAPC). This certification involves over 80 hours of coursework and 480 hours of work experience in an afterschool setting.
Healthy snacks are provided for all afterschool students. At least two food choices are offered, as well as milk, water or 100% juice. Accommodations are made for students with food allergies. Afterschool activites are creative, hands-on, and fun. Programs provide an exciting array of high interest and age appropriate activities for students. Examples include cooking, gardening, computer-based learning, music and sports. Many programs also offer opportunities to participate in clubs. While offerings vary from site to site, all programs include the following:

- Outdoor structured activities
- Academic enrichment
- Fine arts

Health and Safety
Procedures are in place in every program to ensure the health and safety of students at all times. Drills are conducted throughout the year to ensure both staff and students are prepared for any emergency. Only those parents designated by the parent or guardian are authorized to pick up their child. Photo identification is required upon request of the afterschool staff.
Programs are prepared to handle specific student needs and health issues as they arise. Contact the afterschool site director for any concerns regarding food allergies, medical or behavioral needs, or physical limitations. Afterschool program staff collaborate with appropriate District and community entities to develop strategies for meeting these students' needs.
Afterschool fees are calculated per month based on contracted attendance and prorated throughout the year into 19 installments. Drop in services are not available. Students must be enrolled and tuition paid monthly prior to service. Fee schedules for each program are available upon request from the afterschool site director.

Aftershool programs welcome family involvement. Sites offer opportunities for families to support their afterschool student through participation in science nights, literacy nights, and drama performances. Contact the afterschool site director for more information.
Individuals interested in volunteering with the afterschool program must be registered with the Palm Beach County School District's Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) program. There is a VIPS coordinator at every elementary school that can assist those interested.
