Mike Burke has served the South Florida Education Community for over 26 years.  Mike began his career in 1990 as a Budget Analyst for the School Board of Broward County in Florida and joined the School District of Palm Beach County in 1998.  In Palm Beach, Mike has served as Budget Director, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer.  In his current role as Chief Financial Officer, Mike is responsible for the District’s Financial Management and Information Technology divisions.  Financial Management includes Accounting, Budget, Diversity in Business Practices, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), FTE & Student Reporting, Purchasing, Risk & Benefits Management, and Treasury.  For a four year period (3/2012 to 4/2016), Mike served as both the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer.  In November 2014, Mike received the Bill Wise Award, presented by the Council of the Great City Schools at its annual conference of Chief Financial Officers.  The award is presented to a Council member senior business official who exemplifies the professionalism, commitment, integrity and leadership demonstrated by Dr. Wise throughout his career.  Mike is also Past Chairman of the Florida School Finance Council and has served on this Council since 2006.  The Council is sponsored by Florida Department of Education and provides input to the Commissioner of Education on various funding issues. Mike grew up in South Florida and enjoys working and living in the community with his wife and three children. Mike has a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Florida State University, in Tallahassee, Florida, as well as a Masters of Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University, in Boca Raton, Florida.  Mike enjoys boating, fishing, and college football.  Go Noles!
