Dr. Fennoy's Five Fave Books for Summer Reading

School District of Palm Beach County superintendent Donald E. Fennoy II wants to encourage students and their families to pick up a good book and read this summer. Don’t know what to read? Dr. Fennoy has recommendations for a variety of reading levels.

Here's a list of Dr. Fennoy’s Five Fave Books:

1. “Ada Twist, Scientist” by Andrea Beaty (for parents to read aloud to their little ones).

2. “Make Your Bed” by Admiral William McRaven (for middle school/early high school students).

3. “Rising Strong” by Brene Brown (for graduating seniors).

4. “Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption” by Bryan Stevenson (for adults).

5. “Start With Why” by Simon Sinek (for educators).

Free access to books and literacy programs are available at 17 Palm Beach County libraries throughout the summer. Dr. Fennoy visited Royal Palm Beach Library for a story time program for incoming kindergarteners and first graders to encourage the development of solid reading habits from a young age. He read a book to the children and asked them to pledge to continue to read throughout the summer.
