Posted on 04/13/2020

For the fourth consecutive year, the School District of Palm Beach County has been honored with the prestigious Best Communities for Music Education designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation.

The award acknowledges the School District’s outstanding commitment to music education. The District is one of only six districts in Florida to receive the distinction for 2020, following the completion of an extensive NAMM survey/application.

According to NAMM, "the award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education."

The District serves more than 175,000 students in the areas of Music, Visual Arts, Theatre Arts, Dance, and TV Production. Students have the opportunity to experience the arts in elementary, middle, and high school through a variety of course offerings.

Over the years, District students have been selected to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, the 2019/2020 New Year’s Day Parade in London, England, and at the American Choral Directors Association National Conference. District students also participate in local and national art competitions and exhibitions.
