Purpose and Functions

Adult and Community Education offers comprehensive instructional programs designed to improve the employability of the state’s workforce by increasing the number and percentage of adult education students who enter post-secondary education and earn a degree, certificate, and/or industry credential.

In addition, our programs are designed to improve employability through the acquisition of communication skills and cultural competencies that enhance the ability to read, write, speak, and listen in English. The Adult Education programs address the unique and evolving needs of individuals and communities by providing adults with the knowledge and skills necessary to participate effectively in society as productive citizens, workers, and family members.

Adult and Community Education serves more than 34,000 students per year.
