Purpose and Functions

Maintenance and Plant Operations accomplishes specified maintenance and repair of existing District facilities in support of the educational mission.

Maintenance and Plant Operations handles all routine and emergency work orders, requests for facility modifications, citations from the comprehensive safety inspection reports (CSIRs), indoor air quality reports, Health Department reports, and other regulatory agencies.

Each school has a designated Zone Team Support Operations Leader and/or Facilities Management Coordinator and Facilities Maintenance Area Manager to address facility needs.

To best accomplish the District’s goals, the Department is grouped into twelve zone teams, each serving specific geographical areas within the District. These teams include carpenters, plumbers, painters, roofers, fence technicians, electricians, and HVAC technicians.

A Central Services unit handles fire/life/safety issues and large maintenance projects. Our Grounds section handles landscaping, pest control, and athletic fields. Lastly, our  section manages utility scheduling (HVAC and lighting) and payments, trash and recycling programs, and is the liaison for power outages.
