Meetings on new instructional materials for K-12 Science courses scheduled for June

Boy and Girl writing with pencilsThe Instructional Materials Adoption Committees will hold public meetings throughout the month of June to review instructional materials proposed for use in Elementary, Middle and High School Science classes.

These committees will review materials and make recommendations for district adoption. Implementation of the District adopted programs will occur in the 2018-2019 school year, pending administrative approval and adequate funding.

The public input meetings are scheduled for:

Elementary Science – June 12 -15, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Middle School Science- June 19 -22, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

High School Science – June 26 -29, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The impact on students and teachers when making instructional material adoption review decisions is far reaching.  Materials will be used to educate our community’s children for the next five years in each of these Science courses. We encourage participation and input from our teachers, community members and interested organizations supporting our students.

Committee recommendations will go to the School Board for approval in March 2018. Once approved, the Instructional Materials and Library Media Services Department will begin the ordering process with various publishers on Instructional Materials.

All committee meetings are open to the public.  Meetings are held at the McKesson Building, 1400 N. Florida Mango Road, West Palm Beach. Textbooks being considered for recommendation will also be available to view online beginning in July.  For more information about the meetings or access to view student editions online, contact Tina Sparks at (561) 684-5127
