Gabriella Hotaling, a senior at Palm Beach Central High School, was recently named the new Student School Board Representative. Hotaling made her debut at the Board meeting on September 27.
Hotaling is going into her third year as a student government representative, and decided to take on the position of Student Board Representative because of her passion for making change and ensuring that students’ voices were well represented.
The student representative position allows Hotaling to be the voice of Palm Beach County students, taking their input and opinions to put before the Board and community.
“Being able to represent the students within Palm Beach County thus far has been such a rewarding experience and I have met many incredible people,” Hotaling said. “I now want to motivate other students to get involved in helping others and making a difference within our community.”
For the past two years, Alex Cordeiro, the Student Government Association Adviser at Palm Beach Central, has worked with Hotaling and is confident in her ability to take on the role of student representative.
“Gabriella is extremely hard working and passionate, she always puts 110% into everything that she does,” Cordeiro said. “This opportunity can benefit her as a student because she gets to strengthen many of her skills that aren’t always taught in a classroom setting, which will better prepare her for college and professional opportunities in the future.”
Hotaling’s term runs through May 2018. After graduation she hopes to go into the medical field and become a physician’s assistant.
