A recent partnership between the online tutorial site Khan Academy and College Board has yielded some substantial early results.
A recent national study of 250,000 students who used the program for 20 hours showed a 115 point increase between their initial PSAT and their official SAT scores, leaving College Board to say that they “believe that Khan Academy’s Official SAT Practice is a significant factor” even if students used other resources.”
Nearly 2400 different videos, encompassing the various foundations of math, to SAT prep, are readily available for students to learn anytime, anywhere.
Schools are making the push for a more personalized education in their classrooms. A prescriptive approach for each child, unique to their specific level, that meets them where they are.
Khan Academy is an adaptive learning tool that has provided some tremendous success for schools looking for an innovative solution on how to bring both remediation to the lower performing students as well as opportunities for enrichment for the children who are moving faster than the curriculum pace.
Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that allow students to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. And although math is the most frequently consumed subject matter, the program actually has lessons ranging from SAT prep to computer programming.
