Students at Belle Glade Elementary and Washington Elementary schools are ready for the 2018-2019 school year thanks to Office Depot’s newest philanthropic program, Start Proud!
The two Palm Beach County District schools were among only 10 Title I schools in the country selected by Office Depot to receive brand new backpacks full of school supplies, a $25 Office Depot gift card, and other essentials for every single student grade Pre-K through fifth.
Students entered the assemblies at their respective schools with music playing and volunteers from Office Depot lined up to give them each a high five. Once seated, the students got pumped for the surprise by their principals, members of the Office Depot executive team, Superintendent Donald E. Fennoy II, and Deputy Superintendent Keith Oswald.
But before the students received their bags, there were a couple of surprises in store for their teachers. Each school received six pallets full of school supplies for the teachers to use throughout the school year. Also, one special teacher was selected from each school to receive a special surprise – a personal computer, an office chair, and premium supplies valued at $1,000.
In addition to the backpacks distributed during the assembly, Office Depot is also providing 1,000 backpacks to the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County.
