The Office of African, African American, Latino, & Gender Studies conducts two summer institutes every year which provides professional development to teachers, administrators, and community that would allow them to better meet the needs of African American and Latino Students. The Latino Studies Summer Institutes will be held in June. The African and African American Studies Summer Institutes will be held in June. Renown scholars from all over the nation will present topics that focus on cultural competency, equability, and individualized instruction. These annual events attract up to 500 participants from various schools in the Palm Beach County School District. Our goal is to ensure that teachers and school administrators acquire the knowledge needed to improve student achievement within these subgroups.
To ensure that we are able to meet our goal of providing teachers and school administrators with quality professional development, The School District of Palm Beach County invites businesses and community organizations to get involved by considering a sponsorship to provide the following:
- Monetary Donation of $500 to $5,000
- Supplies
- Pens/Pencils
- Badges
- Lanyards
- Folders
- Note Pads
- Snacks & Beverages
- Appreciation Certificates/Gifts for speakers
All Philanthropic gifts made to the school district through the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County are tax-deductible.
The event will be publicized to 27K district employees; promoted through a media advisory, Facebook post with 34k subscribers; Twitter with 27k subscribers; plus 11k subscribers to the Superintendent’s page. Sponsors’ representatives will be included at the Board presentation (televised) and Principal meeting announcements, as well as in a district produced video that will be shown on The Education Network (TEN), YouTube and to various audiences.
