Tech Support

IMPORTANT NOTE: Both Workspace and CPS are to be installed by the school ITSA/STST/TC using LANDesk.  Teachers and/or techs are not to install eInstruction software using CDs supplied by the vendor.  eInstruction CDs are for home use.

WORKSPACE & CPS Software

Once installed, Workspace and CPS can be managed by a teacher.  When the Mobi and/or CPS transceiver is/are plugged into the computer by a teacher, eInstruction's device manager will see the device(s) and manage the hardware and software.

NOTE: Do NOT plug either the Mobi or CPS USB transceiver(s)

into a computer prior to installing the software.

Document Camera & WORKSPACE

One of the exciting features of Workspace is the ability to annotate live over a document camera image.  This requires a setup process for both the document camera and Workspace software.

Setting up a document camera:

AVer Document Camera

The AVer F50 document camera uses the Sphere 2 software.  The Sphere software displays the live document camera image similar to the Lumens software.

Sphere 2 software can be installed via LANDesk by the ISTA/STST/TC or directly by a teacher from the LANDesk Portal Manager.  To get to the Portal Manager a teacher should:

    1. Click the Start button on the desktop
    2. Click All Programs
    3. Open the LANDesk Management folder
    4. Click on Portal Manager link
    5. Click in box to the left of AVer Sphere 2
    6. Click Launch (at top of window) or double click AVer Sphere 2 name to install software
    7. After the software is installed, connect a USB cable from the document camera to the teacher computer, if not already connected. Windows will automatically recognize the hardware and install the drivers.
    8. On the teacher desktop look for the Sphere 2 software icon.  (It will look like a red circle with a white "S"..)  To test the connection, launch the software and click on Visualizer.  This will display the live document camera image on the computer desktop.

Lumens Document Camera  (Red Base)

The Lumens DC162 and DC166 document cameras use either the Queue or Ladibug software, respectively.  To determine which LANDesk package to install you must fist determine the model of the document camera. (It's located on the bottom of the camera.)

    1. Ask your ISTA/STST/TC to install the appropriate package via LANDesk on your computer.

Lumens Driver Downloads

    1. After the software is installed, connect a USB cable from the document camera to the teacher computer.  (The USB cable comes with the document camera and looks like a printer cable.)  Windows will recognize the hardware and install drivers.  Do NOT plug in USB to computer before installing Lumens software as this will corrupt the installation.
    2. On the teacher desktop look for the Lumens software icon.  (It will look like either an open eye or a ladybug.)  To test the connection, launch the software and click on Display Live Images (upper left icon).  This will display the live document camera image on the computer desktop.

Setting up Workspace Software:

    1. Launch Workspace. (It is assumed Workspace is already installed on the teacher's computer and working with the Mobi schoolpad.)
    2. On the Workspace toolbar go to: Preferences, Customize Toolbar, drag the Annotate Over Desktop icon from the Available Tools box to the Main Toolbar box and click OK.  You will be prompted to save the changes to the current scheme.  Click Yes and name your customized toolbar.  This toolbar will now be the default toolbar each time you launch Workspace.

Once all of the steps have been completed above, to annotate over a live document camera image, follow the steps below:

    1. Launch either Queue or Ladibug software.
    2. Click on Display Live Images (upper left icon)
    3. Maximize window to fill the monitor screen.
    4. Launch Workspace.
    5. Click on Annotate Over Desktop icon (it looks like a computer monitor with a pencil)
    6. Select the tool you would like to use for annotation, e.g., pen, highlighter, etc.

The Workspace process is the same for both the AVer and Lumens document cameras.
