New Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Parent
The FDLRS Network announces its Spring 2017 Parent Webinar Series beginning on March 31st!
A series of five hour-long webinars will be conducted to provide parents and guardians with topics related to exceptional student education. The topics were chosen in response to requests for additional information that was shared on parent surveys. The webinars will take place on Fridays from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM EST. The five topics and webinar dates are as follows:
March 31st - Understanding the World of ESE
April 28th - Understanding the Individual Education Plan
May 12th - Instructional Practices
May 19th - Connecting Families with Agencies and Other Resources
June 9th - Family and School Partnerships

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION RELEASES NEW ONLINE TOOL TO EMPOWER AND INFORM FLORIDA FAMILIES
The Florida Department of Education unveiled a new website that will help Florida families make critical education decisions by enabling them to access school and district-level data and will better inform families about the state's college and career ready standards and the quality of learning taking place in their students' classrooms.

The Department of Exceptional Student Education has established the ESE Solution Center.
The Department of Exceptional Student Education has established the ESE Solution Center. This resource is designed to provide an open line of communication for parents, employees and community members in order to improve customer service. The ESE Solution Center entails an email link on the SDPBC ESE website as a forum to address concerns and inquiries to be researched and followed up by District ESE staff. Data collected from this site will be used to drive professional development and technical assistance needs. This Solution Center will facilitate a more collaborative district wide effort to find solutions more efficiently and result in increased positive outcomes.
Bright Expectations is the Department of Health's website to provide resources and information on developmental disabilities for pregnant women, health care providers, parents and families. This website is a portal to provide information on evaluation and intervention services, support programs for families, resources for health care providers, and serve as a clearinghouse of information on developmental disabilities. www.BrightExpectations.com

a web-based resource that parents can use to gain an understanding of what special education is and how it works, as their child enters, progresses through and exits the world of special education requirements.
