Damon Weaver Works Red Carpet With Protégé At National Awards

Student reporter Damon Weaver and one of his protégés, third grader Jaylin Mitchell, have been granted credentials to report from the red carpet of the 41st National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Awards that will be held this Friday, February 26, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in Los Angeles, CA.

The student reporters will have the opportunity to interview a number of celebrities that attend the awards show which will be held in the historic Shrine Auditorium. The students and their teacher, Brian Zimmerman, are hoping to bring back positive messages from the celebrities for the students at Kathryn E. Cunningham/Canal Point Elementary.

Last year Florida Crystals was the biggest sponsor of Damon Weaver’s trip to Washington, D.C. when he reported from President Barack Obama’s Inauguration.  This year Florida Crystals is helping again as the main sponsor of this upcoming trip to the NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles, CA.

Damon Weaver and Jaylin Mitchell will be going to Mister Formal on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 to receive their final fitting for the tuxedos that they will wear at the awards. The student reporters will be available for interviews at Mister Formal between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.

The student reporters and their teacher will be flying to Los Angeles on Wednesday night and returning Sunday morning.
