2011 Middle School Poetry Competition Set

In celebration of Poetry Month in April, Palm Springs Community Middle School is hosting a poetry competition organized by our very own Laura Costello, a teacher and lover of poetry. The event is open to all Palm Beach County middle school students culminating with a poetry reading and award ceremony at Palm Springs Community Middle School on Saturday, April 30, 2011.

Poems are being accepted January 1 through March 25, 2011,at pbcmspoets@gmail.com.

Renowned guest judges include Edmund Skellings, Poet Laureate of Florida; Virgil Suarez, Cuban-born poet and professor of English at Florida State University; Anastasia Clark, Poet in Residence for Broward County; and Glenis Redmond, Performance Poet.

A book of winning poems, selected by the judges, will be compiled into a book for publication and will be awarded to all the winning students. Additionally, all poets whose poems have been selected for publication will be invited to a poetry reading at Palm Springs Community Middle School on April 30, 2011.
