School Board Proclaims September PTA Membership Month

Research has proven that students do better in school when parents are involved, and the Palm Beach County PTA has scheduled a number of activities next month designed to increase parent participation in our schools. Palm Beach County Council of PTA President Jen Martinez recently received a proclamation signed by Board members declaring September PTA Membership Month.  She said September is a time that PTAs across the country will contact parents, schools, and communities to share information about the benefits of parent involvement for children.  “PTAs gain broad support in the community, host great programs for families and students, and can be a powerful voice for children by simply banding together.”

Other area PTA members who serve in state and regional leadership positions were also on hand to receive the proclamation including Mindy Haas, Florida PTA vice- president of Regions and Councils; Kay Stagray, Florida PTA Resource Development chair; and Jenn Olson, 2nd vice- president of Communications.

The PTA Membership Month Proclamation reads:

WHEREAS, the Palm Beach County Council of PTA/PTSA has a long tradition of seeking the highest possible educational advantages for all children andyouth so they can realize their full potential; and

WHEREAS, the Palm Beach County Council of PTA/PTSA assists parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children, encourages parent and public involvement in public schools in our community, and speaks on behalf of children and schools in the community, in organizations, and before public governing bodies; and
