Students Apply Research and Robotics to This Year’s FIRST ® LEGO® League Challenge, HYDRO DYNAMICS Saturday

BOYNTON BEACH – Creativity and science will come together at the South Florida FIRST® LEGO® League Regional Championship. Students aged 9-14 from 48 teams throughout South Florida will demonstrate their problem-solving skills, creative thinking, teamwork, competitive play, sportsmanship, and sense of community.
WHAT: South Florida FIRST® LEGO® League Regional Championship

WHERE: Boynton Beach High School

               4975 Park Ridge Blvd.
Boynton Beach
WHEN: Saturday, February 24
             9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
These local students are joining over 280,000 children from 90 countries in this year’s challenge theme, HYDRO DYNAMICSSM. FIRST LEGO League teams undertake a two-part challenge based on a real-world topic. This season, teams explored how to improve the ways people find, transport, use, or dispose of water, all while operating under the FIRST LEGO League signature set of Core Values, emphasizing teamwork and good sportsmanship.  Teams will have to program their LEGO MINDSTORMS® robots to solve a set of missions on an obstacle course set on a thematic playing surface.
The competition is judged in three areas: project (researching a problem and proposing and presenting an innovative solution); robot design (showcasing engineering and computer programming skill), and Core Values, (which embody aspects of teamwork and good sportsmanship). Top robot game scores are also honored. The following District schools have registered for the event:
