Wear yellow to support our school lunch heroes

The public is invited to celebrate the District’s school lunch heroes by expressing gratitude and wearing yellow during food distribution on Thursday, April 30, and Thursday, May 7.

Between preparing wholesome meals, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, the more than 1,400 nutrition professionals in the District have a lot on their plate.

Now with school closures due to COVID-19, these professionals are community heroes, as they have been on the front lines serving more than 1 million free meals to children in the community since schools closed on March 13.

On Thursday, April 30, the number of food distribution locations will increase to 51 schools across Palm Beach County. Meals will be distributed from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Parents or guardians who pick up meals on Thursday will be picking up a kit with two meals for six days totaling 12 meals for each child. There will also be additional food distribution at select school sites on that day.

On Thursday, May 7, three days’ worth of meals will be distributed at the 51 locations across the District from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The next food distribution will be Tuesday, May 12.
