During the School Board Special Meeting on April 13, the Board approved the adoption of Boundary Study 05C-3, establishing the attendance zone for Blue Lake Elementary School in Boca Raton and shifting the student attendance boundaries for two elementary schools (Calusa, and J.C. Mitchell), as well as two K-8 schools (Addison Mizner, and Verde K-8).

The study better balances enrollment and creates a compact attendance zone for Blue Lake Elementary, which will be located east of Military Trail and south of Spanish River Boulevard when it opens in August 2022.

All currently enrolled students in kindergarten through fourth grade at Calusa Elementary, J.C. Mitchell Elementary, and Verde K-8, who now reside in the new boundaries of Blue Lake Elementary School, will automatically be moved and enrolled at Blue Lake Elementary for the 2022–2023 school year. No enrollment is required. All student files and information will be moved automatically.

All current fourth grade students (students who will be in the fifth grade in 2022–2023), and their current K-3 siblings, will be permitted to opt-in to remain at their current SY 2021–2022 schools. In addition, these families will be permitted to enroll their 2022–2023 incoming kindergarten student(s) at their current school if they so desire. Parents/guardians must complete a reassignment form for each eligible household.

For those students whose attendance zones are affected by this boundary study, but who choose to stay at their current school, transportation will be the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

The boundary study also has enrollment implications for currently enrolled students in kindergarten through fourth grade at Verde K-8 and Addison Mizner.
